BASIC BIRDING

The course typically consists of four sessions at various locations

Four session beginning birding course for birders of all ages. Each session includes classroom and field experience. $25 tuition. 

Session I

Highlights:

·        Attract birds to your yard through the use of plants, feeders, and nest boxes.

·        You will learn about bird watching tools including binoculars, field guides, audio, video, computer guides and journals.

Bring binoculars if you have them.

A short walk to view birds will follow the class.

Session II

Date:  Saturday Jan. 12, 2008

Highlights:

·        This segment will include the parts of a bird, silhouettes, and flight patterns.

·        Bird Identification techniques.

·        Learn how to look at a bird.

Bird watching practice will follow the class.

Session III Field trip

Date:  Thursday Jan, 17, 2008

Location: To Be Announced

Highlights:

·        We will car-pool for this half-day trip.

·        Practice what we have learned at one of the most popular birding spots in the area.

·        Shorebirds, wading birds, and hopefully roseate spoonbills.

Most viewing will be done from vehicles.

Session IV

Date: Saturday Jan 19, 2008

Highlights:

·        Review any problem areas.

·         Practice identification session with audio and visual aids.
